(I hope you won’t mind me calling you Tom. I still feel a bit guilty for the time I greeted Nicholas Courtney by his first name. He seemed a bit taken aback. Was I overfamiliar, do you think? Anyway, he was v kind and talkative. A lovely man.)
Do you plan to write another book? Because you have such a devilish sense of humour, and an original way of seeing the world, it would be so nice to read a humorous tale or series of essays penned by you. I always look forward to your interviews in print ‘cause you make me laugh so much, and laughter is the best medicine, isn’t it? It must be lovely to know how happy you have made so many people in the world. You have certainly made this fan very happy! I wish I could give you a hug! : )

Dear David,
During my two thousand, five hundred and fifty five days in Doctor Who, the affection of the fans kept me going during some dark periods; all gone now, but the fans remain loyal and affectionate still and I am grateful.
I don't plan a book but I'm doing a bit of charity work for the local hospice this autumn. I shall read a horror story I have written and submit to a rigorous interview in front of a very live audience. All this in October in Hastings.
