The Boy Who Kicked Pigs

Postby danny_g on July 24th, 2012, 12:54 am

Hello Tom, just to say I managed to catch the recent adaptation of Pigs in Salford last month and my good lady and I enjoyed it very much. I hope they get to tour it at some point, so you get the chance to see it!

I'm intrigued to know what your thoughts on the original idea were though, did you think the book would adapt well to the stage?

Thank-you

Danny

Danny,

My wife, Sue, saw the adaptation and was positive about it. I was amazed that someone wanted to do it on stage. When I wrote the piece it was obvious to me I could not write about a good boy. Who wants to read about a good boy? So I piled on the awfulness and everybody laughed.

The book is in about five or six languages! Amazing.
