I really do think that Tom's Hound is the closest to the book, and that his version of Holmes was a fascinating interpretation. Comparing it with with the versions with Jeremy Brett, Ian Richardson, Richard Roxborough, Peter Cushing (x2 - Hammer and BBC), and Basil Rathbone, Tom should be justly proud of his more than adequate potrayal of the Master Detective.

It's just a pity it's never seen the light of day on Video or DVD....
The Doctor: I tell you, Brigadier, there's nothing to worry about! The brontosarus is large and placid!
Harry Sullivan: (to the Brigadier) This the patient, sir?
The Doctor: (looking up at Harry) And stupid!

What????? Tom's version of The Hound of the Baskervilles has never been given a video release??? For shame! I for one would love to see it.I love Sherlock Holmes (Jeremy Brett and Robert Downey Jr are my favorites in the role that I've so far seen) and seeing my favorite childhoood actor and Doctor as Holmes would be a grand event!

Peter Cushing also played Sherlock Holmes in the "Hound of the Baskervilles" too. :) There have been many versions of this movie done by many actors, including Tom.
