I really do think that Tom's Hound is the closest to the book, and that his version of Holmes was a fascinating interpretation. Comparing it with with the versions with Jeremy Brett, Ian Richardson, Richard Roxborough, Peter Cushing (x2 - Hammer and BBC), and Basil Rathbone, Tom should be justly proud of his more than adequate potrayal of the Master Detective.
It's just a pity it's never seen the light of day on Video or DVD....

Harry Sullivan: (to the Brigadier) This the patient, sir?
The Doctor: (looking up at Harry) And stupid!
