Great time to be a Tom Baker fan!

Talk about Doctor Who when Tom played the Doctor (1974 - 1981).

That is what is so great about the 70's. Even the bad stuff had certain aspects to make it appealing in a campy sorta way, unlike today for the most part. It was a great decade to be alive and I wish I could have experienced it firsthand.

Oh I've never liked the word camp. Camp seems to imply negativeness about a particular movie or show.

Maybe if someone is referring to something modern as "camp". When I hear the word, I think fun, quirky, and over the top which mostly refers to cult culture of the 70's and early 80's. Good cheese, in my opinion. Ever seen "Phantom Of The Paradise" or "Humanoids From The Deep". Those are examples of fairly good campy films.

Many like to compare "Phantom Of The Paradise" to the "Rocky Horror Picture Show" and I can understand that. There are many similarities but I feel that "Phantom" is just as good if not better. Truth be told, Richard O'Brien probably got his inspiration for the film by watching "Phantom" and "Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls".

Oh, I have never minded silliness in my TV viewing. I just think calling such things camp imply there is something negative about said programme. I think it can be a positive thing.

I think people who are way too uptight and take themselves too seriously may think of "Camp" as having a negative connotation. Perhaps because they don't have a sense of humor and can't see the little things that make such art appealing. I think it can be positive as well, Prydonian.

Indeed, much of what I watch is silliness at its finest. Too much seriousness is lethal to me. I am glad we are both in agreement, Brother Jay. :)

Excellent, Clara. :) I have in the past been accused of taking things way too seriously. ;)
