One of the qualities my family and I loved about Doctor Who was the stage like feel the show gave. The paperclips, the tinfoil never bothered us, but would easily ruin other shows. As I understand, Vaudeville was a major part of the early doctors like Troughton. Troughton brought a lot of humor and slapstick coupled with his crazy faces and often tinkering with objects while talking.
What I am curious to know is how much of your character was scripted, and how much off the cuff. And, if you don't mind, how much some of the other doctor's ad libbed, or did not. It always struck me that there was a lot and that the dialogue always flowed so smoothly and naturally between the Doctor and his companions

I know almost nothing about other doctors. It was only recently that it was brought to my attention that there were OTHER doctors. I used to offer suggestions at rehearsal and sometimes they were accepted. But there was NO acting involved, just me passing the time with proper actors who were very understanding.
