The Deadly Assassin?

Postby joan1999 on August 4th, 2010, 9:02 pm

Hi Tom, it is nice to see that your doing well. It is unfortunate that you do not appear at Dr. Who conventions in the U.S. as much anymore because I would have loved meeting you and see that really long scarf. One of my favorite episodes is "The Deadly Assassin". During the matrix scene a lot of things happen to Doctor, if I remember correctly he falls while hanging from a cliff, is in a fight, gets shot then nearly drowns. It was one of the more physical Dr. Who episodes I have seen which was quite good. My question is did you do some or most of your own stunts in that episode? Thanks, perhaps I will see you on an episode of the Sarah Jane Adventures! 8-)

Dear Joan

Stunts? Well, I did the stunts in The Deadly Assassin and we were very worried at Rushes about the Drowning Scene. It roused a lot of comment at the time. I thought it was a little excessive and felt it would have been better if I had been able to swallow all the water and and then drown the assassin! But the BBC did not care for my ideas. They didn't believe a Time Lord could do his own Tsunami.

I can't say I blamed them and now after so much time it doesn't seem important. It was fun though.
