Dear Sue and Tom -

Happy day, six times over! And congratulations to the proud momma, and cat-by-proxy grand-parents. Now, you absolutely must get their natal charts done. There are several good pet astrologers out there on the Net, just Google: Dog Cat Pet Horoscopes. Though Winky is my favourite one. As their Ad says:

Welcome to Winky's Pet Horoscopes (The Internet's Oldest and Most Trusted Pet Horoscopes) on Pet Net! Pet Net's in-house Astrologer (and champion mouser), Winky, consults the stars (along with a healthy snort of catnip!) to keep your pet informed and prepared for the many surprises that are always waiting around the corner, up a tree, in the back yard or - ugh! - in the litter box! Winky draws upon her strong sixth sense and her incredible understanding of the universe and all it's secrets (she is currently on her 7th life) to make her uncannily accurate predictions and pet horoscopes. Winky's Pet Horoscopes is updated Monthly (or whenever Winky gets around to it), so be sure to drop in often.

Wait a second ... these kitties were born into the Baker home. Their pasts presents and futures are already golden. What on earth more would a cat need: let alone require a crystal ball or psychic cat on retainer for?

Still, best of luck with the newest additions to your family, may they grow up healthy, happy and strong.

Bella's little peanuts are so sweet. Can't wait to see more pix as they grow.

I wonder what Poppy and old Sol think of them?

Asking for prayers and good vibrations

Hi All -

It's been a while since I've posted. There's been an awful lot going on, from broken cars to broken cats. The cars are no biggie, either they can be fixed or I walk a lot. But the cats on the other hand...

Remember Larry, my little fellow who had to have a perineal urethrostomy? (I've typed that so much that I will never forget how to spell it.) Now he's developed scar tissue and it blocked him again. He spent this past weekend at the vet. This tiny bit of scar tissue seems to have the entire vet world stymied. Seems there is no alternative but more surgery or "the bad thing I don't want to do." And you all know what I mean. I've had success using homeopathic treatment with another cat (Lisa) who, had I done what the vet suggested, would have been buried over a year now. She sends her regards, by the way. There is a homeopathic treatment for scar tissue, but it will take time to get here, and for it to work. Time Larry may not have.

I am not ashamed to admit to being so hurt and confused by this turn of events. Other than scar tissue that may grow back, Larry is healthy and happy and a bundle of fun! Now it appears that the surgery may have been for nothing - other than to make small loan companies dance a jig. ($1700 for the first go rounds, $600 for this past weekend, and $2300 should I take him to a specialist to do further surgery). At what point do I throw in the towel? He's not in misery - it's not like it's cancer or another formidable foe. It's just a wee bit of scar tissue!

So, as you are each inclined in your own way, would you please say some prayers, light some candles, hold Larry in the light, swing a chicken around your head - whatever belief you follow - and ask for me to have guidance and peace and for Larry to continue to have the longest life possible here.

If you'll excuse me now, I have to go wipe my eyes, blow my nose and scratch up bail money for Larry. (Oh, by the way, I might be out of a job too! Ain't life grand???)

Blessings on all of you. Hope I didn't get too much snot on you!

Love,
Susie aka Gobs o'Cats

Susie,

I'm so sorry to hear the news about your cat. A few years ago, I had to do "the bad thing" to our family cat named Tux. Tux came down with feline diabetes and we just couldn't afford the medication for him. It was the hardest thing I ever had to do. I cried like a baby as I walked out the door to the vets office without Tux in my arms. I wouldn't wish this decision on anyone. My kids still think of Tux and remember him fondly. I don't know if there is an after-life, or a heaven, but I do know that memories, especially fond ones, are a legacy that last beyond the next world. As for cashing it all in, if something is working, and as long as Larry seems to be doing okay, I say give it a try as long as you can and see what comes of it. Don't give up just yet. You and Larry will definitely be kept in my thoughts.

best regards,
Mike

Prayers being said, Susie. God bless Larry's precious heart! You're doing all you can for him, so take it easy on yourself, sweetie! (((hugs)))

Update on Larry:

He's eating like a pig, taking his medicine like a sweetheart, still "going" in the litter box, and he purred for me the other night! I've started his homeopathic remedy that may dissolve any scar tissue. So far, so good. Thanks for the prayers and good vibes!!! It can't hurt. :)

Smooches,
