Dear Tom,

I've seen in an earlier answer that (unsurprisingly, given your interest in nature) you like spiders. I'm curious to know what you do when you find one in the house - just leave it be or carefully transport it back to the outside world? And if you find one in the bedroom do you move it out because of the risk I've heard about that spiders can find their way into the mouths of sleeping humans and be inadvertently swallowed?

I would also be interested to hear if you have had any interesting encounters with unusual spiders, for example during your travels to exotic places like Australia, the southern US, etc.

Ever yours,
Ty T.

Ty, I don't kill spiders, ever. I don't even kill crane flies. Sometimes I have killed a moth in the middle of the night; but not sadistically, no, usually an impatient slap. I have never had a relatioship with a spider. I feel admiration rather than affection though I would never buy green bananas.
