Tom Baker: Godlike Despot or Democratic Facilitator?

Postby Graceful Leonard on April 21st, 2012, 6:36 pm

Dear Tom,

Have you ever fancied directing for film, TV, or stage, and if you were to direct do you think you would be harsh and dictatorial, or would you give the cast a free hand?

Many thanks for your time!

Dear GL,

When I was Whoing and froing from 1974 - 1980, I often made suggestions about certain scenes. I did this to help the directors from repeating scenes we had shot the previous week with another director. I meant well but my ideas were often rejected; I got used to it and looked forward to it.

Best wishes

Tom
