Leaving Dr Who, A Question

Hi Tom!

Question: Is it true that during your seven-year tenure as Dr Who, you at least once considered
resigning from the part long before you actually left in 1981?

Thanks so much!

Theta,

Quite true. I wrote and delivered my letter of resignation to the Producer, Graham Williams. The senior management were deeply unhappy and a series of meetings followed and I was persuaded to withdraw my resignation. It was a very anxious time and poor Graham was made very unhappy by my views. He was followed by John Nathan Turner and by then I was resolved to leave. John accepted my resignation with relief, and with relief I left. And now here I am recording for BBC Audio and Big Finish as I'd never been away.
