Hi Tom,
Father Gregory Effimovich aka Rasputin seems to have gone down in history as an evil monster. He may well have been a drunken, lecherous opportunist whom fate placed in an extraordinary position but his reputation for being evil seems hardly deserved.
Having played him on the big screen, did you come to conclusions of your own about him?

I adored Rasputin as I adored Doctor Who and barmy Fr. Ferguson in "She Devil". I adored Macbeth. And it would be very odd if I said otherwise. The actor (or in my case the would-be actor) must play it all from the character's point of view.
I was offered God in the new Monty Python TV production… but I turned it down. I felt I didn't have much to go on except a loud voice. Would have liked to do HIM as a Burning Bush, but the white beard and all, well, I felt it smacked of Santa Claus.
I'd like to have a go at the devil.
