Dear Anthony,
I'm all in favour of anything that might help to entertain the audience.
When I played Morocco in The Merchant of Venice, Lord Olivier suggested I shoot myself. As I am nervous of guns he offered to fire the pistol and I agreed and so did the director. Later I heard that the entire cast were clamouring to be my executioner. Well, as I ended my scene and the applause reached crescendo Lord Olivier pressed the trigger. The gun jammed and so I am able to tell you this little story. I hope you agree it was a happy ending? If not I understand perfectly.
In comedy when a joke misfires the actors say; "I died." I need hardly add that I have died many times, many many times.
Best wishes from Tom
