I'm not really sure what that is? Sounds like a horserace everyone took bets on?

Over here that kind of gambling would be shot down....local race tracks aren't doing too well except for the highclass Triple Crown. The Preekness, Kentucky Derby and I forget what the third race is...but money does change hands on those.

So are there jockeys or sulkies involved with this one?

Gold Usher,

Think "Grand National" and "National Velvet".

hhahaha...I would if I had ever seen the movies. All I know of them is Elizabeth Taylor and Roddy McDowell. That's it.

Guess I better see if they're listed at my local video shop and take them out.

The Grand National is the largest and most lucrative of British horse races, with a prize fund this year of £925.000 (the winner receiving £521.000). The race is run over 7 kilometeres and has thirty fences.

And to answer Tracy's question... no, I didn't win anything (again) !

I used to have a flutter on horse racing when I was a teenager (adult) but soon grew out of it. Now I don't even buy a lottery ticket. My view is that I am what I am, and no amount of throwing money into wishful dreams will ever change that.

I don't even watch racing any more, so I have no idea what happened on Saturday other than by seeing people's posts here and on Facebook. :)

I hope no one lost too much money, as if you do bet, you should always restrict yourself to an amount that you can afford to lose, and consider it a leisure activity, not an attempt to change your life. ;)
I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by. Douglas Adams.

Try this Gold Usher:

The PreAkness Stakes - the Belmont Stakes - the Kentucky Derby compose the Triple Crown:

Kentucky Derby, run over 1 and 1/4 miles (2.01 km) dirt track at Churchill Downs in Louisville, Kentucky;
Preakness Stakes, run over 1 and 3/16 miles (1.91 km) dirt track at Pimlico Race Course in Baltimore, Maryland;
Belmont Stakes, run over 1 and 1/2 miles (2.41 km), the longest dirt track in thoroughbred racing, at Belmont Park in Elmont, New York.

No horse has won the U.S. Triple Crown since "Affirmed" in 1978. And only 11 thoroughbred horses (all females) have ever done it. Oh yes, and finally, NO horse has ever won it TWO years in a row! ;)

Love,
pattie anne :geek:
