Hi, everyone.

Thanks for letting me be a part of this forum.

My name is Marian and I'm in the US.

My 17 year old dd is the one who actually got me watching Dr. Who about 2 years ago. Because we don't have cable, we rented the DVDs from Netflix.

Our family has enjoyed Mr. Baker's portrayal of the Doctor. He has brought smiles to our faces, especially over the last 2 years when my 17 year old had to undergo spine surgery. I don't think he realizes how much joy he brings.

Anyway, just wanted to stop in and say "hi!"

I'm not on the internet much, but I do look forward to visiting the forum when I can.

I suppose until I'm formally introduced, I'll refer to him as "Mr. Baker."

So are there many of you on this board that have continued to be Dr. Who fans throughout the years?

We were so excited in the US for the premier in the UK of the new Dr. Who. Even though it didn't show here til 4/17 or so, we were still excited, although a bit sad b/c we don't have cable.

We also were very excited when we saw the Royal Shakespeare Company's production of "Hamlet," which just aired this past week on a station we could get outside of cable. David Tennant and Sir Patrick Stewart were excellent.

Even my 17 year old dd said that she enjoyed this production of Hamlet. We've seen different versions (my favorite was Sir Laurence Olivier), but my dd said that the dialogue in this current version just seemed to flow.

I said, "That's why they're the Royal Shakespeare Company."

Well, Dirk, it doesn't matter about the number of committee members, but the sincerity and warmness of the welcome.

Also, Dirk, thank you for your recent messages to me outlining the rules of the forum. I'm not sure if you got my responses (they all were showing up in my outbox, but none registered as sent).
