Tom,
I know your views on religion so I am wondering if you put any stock in the concept of karma so far as it relates to "You reap what you sow"?
There are two recognized forms of karma. One relies on a higher power to control the events and the other relies on the natural laws of causation. Of course in my question to you I am asking about the second.

Dear Pat,
I'm not very brave when eating out but tomorrow I shall be out for an Indian meal with 3 young pals and I have already decided to have Chicken Karma. We need not pursue this as I already know the effect it will have. But then, everyone to his own consolations.
