Would you care for a Jelly Baby?

Hello Tom,

I would like to ask you the following question:
Did you ad-lib your Jelly Baby scenes, or were they part of the script?

I really enjoy the scenes where you are enjoying your Jelly Babies, in fact, so much so that I have a craving for them every time I see you eating them or offering them. Hopefully someday I will find some Jelly Babies here in the USA and get a chance to try them. I laughed out loud as I watched the scene where you told a tribe member that you would kill them with a deadly Jelly Baby. That scene was priceless!

I know the 2nd Doctor ate a few of them, but it was you Tom, that really made them famous, perhaps they should give you royalties?
I hope you still enjoy a few Jelly Babies every now and then.

Dear Allan,

I did improvise in rehearsals and if the front office liked my lines they went in. I never really ate jelly babies outside the BBC, I always have one these days when I'm offered at conventions or in hospital or bus queues or at church during the sermon. I always hope the preacher might shout: "What about me?"
