Being Childish

Hello Tom,

One of the most endearing things about your performance as the Doctor was your childlike quality. The Doctor says in one story "There's no point in being grown up if you can't be childish sometimes". Do you agree with this and do you ever engage in any childish silliness?

Dear Mark,

Thanks for your good wishes. Doing silly things in Doctor Who was such fun. Of course, brought up as a very serious Christian in Liverpool I was very well trained to believe in the fantastic and to enjoy it. I used to weep professionally at funerals in the days before penicillin, you know. Not many lines but big sobs and good tips.
