The Doctor's autograph

Postby Mr Runcible on August 21st, 2010, 2:24 pm

Hi Tom!
I remember wondering about the Doctor's signature in "Dr Who Weekly" when I was a little 'un. It was only later, when I finally got your autograph at a signing, that I realised the handwriting was actually your own! I was wondering, were you ever tempted to fancify your (and the Doctor's!) signature, or has it remained exactly the same over the years? I always imagined The Doctor himself would add an elaborate flourish, or maybe a little kiss (depending, of course, on the recipient - Sarah-Jane, yes; Adric, definitely not)...
All the very best,
Mr Runcible x

Runcible dear,

No. I keep my signature clear. When I became an actor the first thing I did was to practise my autograph. The second thing I did was to write my Oscar acceptance speech. What's the point of a signature that does not reveal a name?

Best wishes
