It would be interesting seeing the Doctor as a teenage girl. If the 1996 TV movie had gone to series we might have well seen that at some point.

*pauses to imagine the Doctor at a school dance in a fluffy ball gown plastered in make-up and hairspray and jewellery*

No, for the Lady Doctor idea to work, it has to be played straight. She can't be treated different than other actor that has played the part.
She couldn't suddenly start acting like a '**** in city' girl or even make a lot of jokes about it or it falls apart.

Instead you need to picture a woman dressed like David Tennant.
