Wow...didn't know there was such a wait list to get in hospital there. My experience has been usually check-in in the middle afternoon day before, get poked and prodded by the doctor and have surgery first off in the morning like at 7 a.m.

And I know it's an indelicate question at a time like this...but just in case, if anything should happen, does she have her 'papers in order'? After my back surgery when the doctor said there was a possiblity of not coming out of it, the four of us went to Evergreen Cemetery and picked out our 'retirement property' back in 1989. Still haven't had that barbeque on it with friends but haven't given up on the idea yet  Unfortunately John is not there ...maybe Brooklawn or scattered to the four winds. So there's an empty space on my side...

mum cant have her operation now till her blood is right we had to go to the hospital today to see the hematolergest he has put mum on steroids which hopefully will boost her blood count up as it is only 53 and to have the operation it needs to be wellover 100 so from tomorrow for 2 weeks she has got to take 2 every morning .he did say that mum can have the operation now on the 16th but we have got to wait to see if the xxxxxxx meds work sorry . we have got to go back this friday where mum will have another blood test to see if they are working then we have got to go abck again next tuesady to see the dr to see if they are working .so im not going to say a date for the operation till mum is in the clear that her blood count has gone up so fingers crossed. when we got to the hospital they couldnt find her details so i got annoyed with them which i did say sorry after to the nurse who i was annoyed at .she said it was ok i.ts not like me so as soon as we know when mums operation will actully be then i will let you all know mum is worrying now and is tense .

You should see how long it takes to make an appointment at a Veterans Hospital (The one in Philadelphia is awful. Avoid it at all costs!). You may either grow incredibly old or die depending on the wait, although, in the past 2 years, it has gotten better.

You and your mum remain in my thoughts and prayers, Tracy.

The wait is hard, but the doctors are taking very good care of her, keeping such a close eye on her.

You take care of yourself, too, dear! We will be here for you!

dear mikotyk -

had to wait four months to see a VA eye specialist in little rock. then after making two long trips there, they decided they couldn't do anything 'moore' for me and my double-vision, so they shuffled me back to fayetteville, and my primary care eye clinic. but generally, i do appreciate the VA very much, as eventhough LONG WAITS are the standard, the few TIMEs i have been hospitalized, the care was excellent. but i understand the indian hospitals and medical services are in all ways sub-standard to the care most americans are use to, and have come to expect; as i have friends and family covered under their services. so one word of warning, folks, this is the SAME government that wants to run ALL heath care in the USA. VA - very long waits ... indian care - certainly not first rate ... so IMHO not a particularily good idea.

dear tracy -

still, HOPE your mum is getting stronger and stronger each day, thereby being better able to bear up under her upcoming surgery, which we all PRAY is very soon now.

love,
pattie anne :geek:
